Diplomacy to Trump is still about "The Art of the Deal." He thinks that Israel and Iran can stop dead in their tracks and make up. Iran will never recognize Israel's right to exist, and reports on Sunday say that there was a planned assassination of Khamenei by Israel. Iran will hear of it and not forget.
"Israel and Iran should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make..."
India and Pakistan have do have a history of hating each other, but they're also the same race, sort of. With Israel and Iran, it's a blood feud.
"... in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks with two excellent leaders we were able to quickly make a decision and STOP!"
It still doesn't answer the original problem which was military going into a tourist area and killing people. Both having nuclear weapons and not wanting to use them also is a good way to bring countries together. Trade with the United States probably had nothing to do with their ceasefire.
"Also, during my first term, Serbia and Kosovo we're going at it hot and heavy, yes they have for many decades, and this long time conflict was ready to break out into WAR."
It was a war. Ugly at that. Trump had no part in stopping it. It was NATO's intervention that put the conflict to rest.
"I stopped it. (Biden has hurt longer term prospects with some very stupid decisions, but I will fix it, again!)
Once again, Trump is taking credit where none is due. But he finds a way to blame Biden once again. And of course only he can fix it. His only success diplomatically is the Abraham Accords.
"Another case is Egypt and Ethiopia, and a fight over a massive dam that is having an effect on the magnificent Nile River."
Ethiopia's dam is the problem. Egypt and Sudan are worried about drinking and irrigation water. The main conflict seems to be the speed at which the reservoir is being filled. Ethiopia wants to do it quickly, and that cuts down on the water flow to Egypt and Sudan.
"There is peace, at least for now, my intervention, and it will stay that way!"
Not hardly. Trump was viewed as favoring Egypt over Ethiopia. He even made a comment about Egypt blowing up the dam that didn't help things. Mediation was tried through the Treasury Department and that didn't seem to have worked very well. The US cut off aid to Ethiopia after it decided to start filling the reservoir without a signed agreement. Trump was completely ineffectual, and the conflict continues to this day.
"Likewise, we will have PEACE, soon between Israel and Iran!"
Donald Trump is delusional.
Just as I was going to finish this, I turned on Fox News to see if they had any reporting on Los Angeles after the 8pm curfew started, and I found an interview between Brett Baier and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Turns out it was recorded 6 hours ago.
Here's a diary that gives refutation to most of what Netanyahu said in "Support for Israel wanes with settlements, starvation and human shields."
The whole interview is here on Fox News.
I thought I was watching it live, so I paraphrased it. This is the gist of it without a lot of exact quotes.
Brett asked him about regime change with the reported plan to assassinate Khamenei. Netanyahu sidestepped the question and said that the Jewish and Persian people have an ancient bond. He blamed Iran for the two assassination attempts on Trump. Brett followed up on that and asked if Israel had any information on that, and he said yes, he has intel on that. Was Netanyahu making that up? That needs to be asked again.
Netanyahu says he had been in constant contact with Donald Trump. Brett asked him if Trump's public statement that he didn't want Israel to attack Iran, was part of the plan? Again Netanyahu sidestepped the question and said that the Iranians planned on giving nuclear weapons, once they had developed them, to the Houthis. "This is a forever war that Iran is conducting without nuclear weapons. Think about when they have them."
Brett asked him about Iran's underground facilities. Sometimes a half mile underground. How could you be attacking those without having the 30,000 lb bunker bomb, Brett asked? Netanyahu wouldn't talk about possibly having those bunker busters, all he said was the decisions were up to Trump. The only western planes that can carry them are the B-1B, B-2 and B-52 bombers. Sidestepping the question, but it almost sounded like Netanyahu had asked for the US to be part. It leaves those underground facilities untouched if they are as deep as Brett said.
Netanyahu said they haven't lost a single plane. Brett asked him about the plan to kill Khamenei. He replied with saying there are lots of false reports. Asked about reports that the Iranians were ready to reach a nuclear deal with the Americans, Netanyahu replied that Khamenei was tweeting over and over again death to Israel. Netanyahu says if they're willing to accept Trump's terms, it's a different story. He says that their main targets are the military and the nuclear where Iran is targeting civilians.
Brett said Saudi Arabia is not happy with the situation and condemns Israel's attack. He responded that Iran has attacked Saudi Arabia at their Aramco oil facilities.
Netanyahu mentioned that Iran shot a missile into his bedroom window. Obviously he wasn't there at the time.
Understand that he puts the onus on Hamas for everything that's happening in Gaza. Brett tells him that the estimates are 55,000 people dead in Gaza and he asks Netanyahu for his estimate. Netanyahu responds with "We're a democracy fighting a sea of evil." Says they're taking extreme care to separate combatants from non-combatants. Israel is not trying to use starvation as a weapon. They've taken over the distribution of aid with the United States in order to keep it out of Hamas's hands. He denies using Palestinians as human shields. Netanyahu says the IDF uses supercharges to set off explosives that have been left behind as booby traps.
Netanyahu says Israel is not trying to push the Palestinians out of Gaza. When asked what he could say directly to Khamenei and to the Iranian people, Netanyahu says that Khamenei is a dictator, a tyrant, a killer. All he says is death to Israel and the destruction of Israel. To the Iranian people he says they are a great people with great talent and art, and for them to do whatever they can to free themselves from the tyrants.
The interview ended here and on came Britt Hume and others for their take on the interview. Finishing now with Trump's post.
"I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that's OK, the PEOPLE understand. MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!"
Trump gets credit for all the things he does, because since taking office they're all bad. I'm not sure that MAGA counts as people, but they're the only ones who support him. But they don't understand him at all. He's out for himself not for them.
Make your own critique of "Make The Middle East Great Again." I think it is still another sign that Trump still believes that a slogan is superior to substance. That he can just pull the wool over people's eyes.
No Kings Day proved that doesn't work anymore.
