*This WOW post does not in any way constitute an endorsement of Noem or other Maga persons-
or Donald Trump*
(We can do better than this):
A post on Kristi Noem is on rec list:
"Kristi Noem Hospitalized"
dailykos
Talking about:
"Her face and her plastic surgery"
on a post is not following Rules of the Road on DK:
2: do not Use bigoted language in stories or comments.
This includes but is not limited to slurs and stereotypes regarding race, gender, gender identity, sexuality, religion, age, class, locality, country or culture of origin, and physical or mental ability. Discriminatory speech of any kind is subject to administrative action, including banning. We respect everyone.
(And because it speculates about her "allergic reaction to botox as the cause of her hospitalization"):
That's technically Fake News and not allowed:
#6: do not Post “Fake News”:
An especially dangerous type of CT, “Fake News” presents a threat not only to the site’s reputation but to political discourse in general. If a claim seems especially exciting or surprising, take a moment to verify it before posting it, even if it fits a left-wing narrative. Fake news of any persuasion is prohibited on Daily Kos. Posting stories judged to be Fake News can not only lead to the removal of the story from the site, but also to banning of the poster’s account.
#5: do not Promote Conspiracy Theories (The Rule Against CT):
Debunked or unverifiable theories, rumors or speculation (e.g., 9-11 was a false flag attack), particularly those promoted by right wing or unscientific sites, are not tolerated in a reality-based community.

(An Excerpt from the above mentioned post):
"Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem -- One too many treatments?"
(And)
"No word on what exactly might have caused the “allergic reaction” — but if I had to guess, could it be one too many Botox injections? Normally I try not to indulge in this type of wild speculation or unsourced rumors and innuendo, but in her case I’ll make an exception since she has more than earned the opprobrium. From my computer’s Copilot:
There is no official confirmation that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem has had cosmetic surgery, but her face appears to have undergone procedures such as full lips, mega lashes, and tight skin"
(And)
"Kristi Noem has undergone a shocking face transformation. In fact, it's hard to recognize her from her former years, and the most intense form of change came when she hitched her cart to Donald Trump's wagon. A glance at before-and-after photos would lead one to reasonably assume the Air Force auxiliary officer become a victim Mar-A-Lago face, the plastic surgery trend that's sweeping Trump's nearest and dearest. Though Noem has not openly admitted to any procedures, her face appears to be a classic example of the key attributes of this particular aesthetic: full lips, mega lashes, taught skin, a full blowout, and work that's unapologetically obvious. In other words, it's a plastic surgery look that's largely detached from reality. And unfortunately for Noem — whether intentional or not — her facial transformation fits this description pretty perfectly."
And- of course:
"Enjoy the schadenfreude — karma really can be a bitch!"
(This website has recently become more Sexist and Misogynist. As the Progressive Left we should know better and try harder. We should not let ourselves become the Manosphere)
And threadjack going on athttps://www.dailykos.com/...
"why randomly referring to a grownup women as a "girl" is NOT misogynist, and furthermore, women apologize too much, even when they are not at fault, why on earth do the irrational creatures do that?"

Concerns and Perceptions:

- Women are less likely than men to agree that the benefits of the online world outweigh the risks.
- Only 34% of UK female respondents viewed the internet positively for society, compared to 47% of males.
- 55% of Gen Z are concerned about encountering misogynistic content, and less than half (49%) feel social media is a safe space.

Excerpt from another recent DK post-
addressing the inequality issue-this is well said:
"Let me preface this by truthfully saying I have nothing against white males as individuals. I’ve had good neighbors, co-workers, cousins and friends who are white males. White men are human beings just like the rest of us. They too can suffer from illness, from loneliness, from bullying, from violence and other issues that we ALL face. And they are entitled to a society that cares for them as human beings. This is undeniable. But as a demographic group and historically in this country, we cannot suddenly and ‘strategically’ deny that white males in relation to the rest of us are a privileged demographic group culturally, legally and otherwise.
I find it incredible that in a society where 9 out of every 10 rape victims is female - a society where 1 in 5 women are sexually assaulted by men - where women are still the main victims of sexual harassment and domestic violence - where only 1% of underreported rapes end in conviction and only 2-10% of reports of rape are false - a society where the lifetime cost of rape a woman incurs is $122,461 - in a society where a women is beaten up by a domestic partner every 9 seconds - in a society where white men out-earn Black and Hispanic men and all groups of women - in a society where males can still harass females on the street and in the workplace with impunity - I find it incredible that in such a society, we’re being told that we need to push aside the concerns of minorities and the females and recenter the white male." www.dailykos.com/...
