My major activity for July 4th was the nap. It was cool and cloudy here. I was appalled to hear about the disastrous storm and flooding in Texas. A couple of people have posted information here about how to help. Kerrville, TX, was apparently pretty much the middle of things.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Sweden has a slew of children — apparently all immigrants — who have fallen asleep and aren’t waking up.

Lessons from Cats for Surviving Fascism. A companion piece for On Tyranny. As you can tell, I’ve bought them both for my Kindle.

As you can probably tell from the number of links, not much caught my eye this week.
We had the annual fire alarm inspection last week. I was one of the first apartments inspected. No problem. I even got all the mopping done before the manager and her assistant showed up. For the record, if I hadn’t been able to fix the problem with my fire alarm, it would have cost me $150.
Last Thursday, my granddaughter chopped my hair off at my shoulders for me. I have been very tired of getting tangled up in it when I’m trying to sleep at night.

I believe I’ve mentioned before that I read books of annual predictions for their entertainment value. Two of the ones I’ve found for 2025 haven’t been very entertaining — the authors seem to feel that DJT is all that is good and right and wonderful.
Then, there is 2025: The Apocalypse, which is a rather short book (available on Kindle Unlimited), which gives a fairly straightforward description and analysis of the uses and abuses of prophecies in the course of known history, and using what Nostradamus and Baba Vanga had to say about it, goes into the possibilities for 2025. This particular description of possibilities is actually quite short.
I finished the book because the author did a fairly good job of the description and analysis — though I think she’d have done better to put a little more emphasis on prophecy not necessarily being prediction. For the record, she doesn’t seem to like either DJT or Musk.

Love you guys!
