Years ago, we used to watch news—real news. We could turn on the TV, open the newspaper, or flip on the radio and read/watch/listen to real, honest-to-goodness (with the emphasis on “honest”) news. Every night, we could hear the truth from the likes of Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow, Dan Rather, John Cameron Swayze, David Brinkley, and Barbara Walters, among other respected journalists. They may not have been perfect—and they certainly weren’t without some bias—but these people made it their mission to bring you the true, unfiltered news. No bothsidesism, no accusations of being “biased,” and no capitulation to some wannabe dictator. Nope—just the facts, ma’am and sir.
With the poor state of news today, we’ve been watching in despair and anger as the owners of the legacy media give in to a monster just for daring to report the truth. To say that Cronkite, Murrow, Cameron Swayze, Brinkley, and Walters would be rolling over in their graves is an understatement; they would be enraged. And so are we.
However, we are seeing a resurgence of journalists who not only refuse to give in to a monster but also report what’s really happening. And these journalists are great: the Meidas Touch Network, Brian Tyler Cohen’s “No Lie”. . .and Luke Beasley:
Luke Beasley is a Gen Z journalist who reports on what the thing has been doing, and as you can see in the video above, he does it with a touch of humor. Last week, however, he did something major: at the invitation of Caolan Robertson, Luke went to Ukraine. In the days since he arrived, Luke has experienced Ukrainian culture, talked to the locals, learned what they are really all about, and actually associated with the brave soldiers on the frontlines:
These videos are not Luke’s usual humor-tinged shows. Rather, they show the seriousness of what he has witnessed. In the process, Luke is doing what the journalists of yore did and what so many in the American mainstream media today are reluctant to do: report events as they are happening and tell his fellow Americans the truth.
This, my fellow Kossacks, is true journalism. Putting yourself on the line to not only see what’s happening but also to report the facts. Just the facts, the way journalists reported them then—and the way they ought to report them now. Mainstream media: TAKE NOTICE.
