Right-wing operatives across the country have been exploiting Charlie Kirk’s death for a variety of self-serving and cynical purposes, but Eric Trump turned it up a notch on Friday by seemingly using the tragedy to promote his book.
Appearing on right-wing numbskull Benny Johnson’s podcast, Eric claimed that “the bullets are only going one way,” before launching into a story about the attempted shooting of President Donald Trump—an incident he just happens to cover in his book.
“My best friend arrested the guy who tried to assassinate my father the second time—I write about it in the book,” Eric told Benny. “We see what happened to Steve Scalise, and then we see what almost happened to Kavanaugh. And then we see what happens to Charlie Kirk. I mean, the bullets are only flying one way.”
Eric joins his father and other right-wing figures in rewriting history to erase the very real political assassinations of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband by a Trump-supporting murderer, while also sanitizing Kirk’s legacy of bigoted and inflammatory rhetoric.
