A Gallup poll this summer shows 92% of Democrats oppose Israel’s actions in Gaza. A Quinnipiac shows 75% of Democrats and 60% of Independents support a cutoff of the billions in taxpayer funded aid and arms to support Israel’s actions in Gaza. www.politico.com/… news.gallup.com/...
You would think that Democratic office holders would feel free to vote for the interests of their constituents. But in fact, to oppose US blank-check support for Netanyahu’s Gaza and West Bank actions are nothing less than a profile in courage.
Senator Ossoff, who is Jewish, voted for a resolution to cut US supplies of the rifles used by the settlers and IDF to kill Palestinian civilians. As a result, AIPAC has targeted him for career destruction along with other, less vulnerable Democratic Senators.

The Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee (RSCC) hailed AIPAC’s decision to attack Ossoff in an ugly smear article, replete with the standard use of photo smear editing to portray Ossoff as a sleaze.

The Party leaders in Congress, Senator Schumer and Rep. Jeffries, both of whom have received millions in AIPAC money, are fine with AIPAC’s effort to eliminate Democratic Senators and House Members. As are other recipients of massive AIPAC contribution such as Kirsten Gillebrand, head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC). I don’t expect them to call off AIPAC’s attack against Ossoff and against other Democratic Senators who voted for the resolution with him.
For decades, AIPAC has destroyed the careers of Democratic elected officials. But times have changed, and if Democrats survive AIPAC attacks next year, our party will be invigorated. If not, it will be damaged, grievously.
