Per Huffington Post-
Claudette Colvin, whose 1955 arrest for refusing to give up her seat on a segregated bus resulted in her arrest and setting off the Montgomery Bus Boycott, has died at 86.
Her death by natural causes in Texas was announced by the Claudette Colvin Legacy Foundation.
Colvin was a 15 year old high school student when she refused to give up her seat to a white customer nine months before Rosa Parks would become famous for her arrest.
After her arrest, she was one of four plaintiffs in a landmark lawsuit that resulted in bus segregation being overturned. In 2021, she successfully filed a petition to have her court record expunged.
