With the EMS report that Renee Good still had a pulse if barely once they arrived much of the trepidation that had seeped in around the edges has been washed away. By now most people at least in the area know that, and that ICE refused to allow a Doctor present to even check for a pulse. That refusal clearly upped the passion and ICE quickly lost all control and even DHS ended up calling 911 for help. Ross was whisked away as soon as the Ambulance and EMS personnel opened up a path. Surely it was only coincidence that the FBI arrived 10 minutes after the remaining ICE agents cleared out.
While I cannot source or confirm it, neighborhood talk and at least some visual video evidence has it that the ICE rotation and surge seems to have selected for a more ethnically diversified front. ICE appears to be going DEI for the cameras and there are a heck of a lot more cameras as the media is flocking. There is also a noticeable change in transportation as the big intimidating SUVs are being replaced with smaller models.
But ICE tactics are still at best unrefined.
My sister encountered an incident on her way home from work today. ICE was apparently attempting to restrain three young men at a gas station on Lake Street and Park avenue. The stupidity of the site selection cannot be over stated. This station is fenced with two entrances on a busy street. Within moments cars had stopped horns were honking and a crowd had assembled, all blocking the agents in. Two of the three slipped away as the agents were diverted and the last ICE let go just to get out of there. Once the rescue was sure and the agents got back in their vehicles the crowd dispersed and the agents were able to drive away. Of course now followed (at a safe distance as ICE likes to brake check).
I’m prouder of my city every day and the unity under siege is definitely uniting us.
