Fresh back from his trip to Davos, Switzerland, Donald Trump told the New York Post in an exclusive interview published today that he will not attend Super Bowl LX on February 8, saying “It’s just too far away.” Last year Trump was the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, and taunted Taylor Swift for being booed by Philadelphia Eagles fans at the game.
In the Post interview, Trump attacked this year’s Super Bowl entertainment, which features Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny at halftime and punk rock band Green Day during pregame, saying “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred.”
Trump supporters are attempting to broadcast a separate halftime show to compete with the NFL’s. Billionaire heiress Gracie Hunt, the daughter of the owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, has thrown her support behind a Turning Point USA rival halftime that was announced in October. The rival show’s performers have not been announced.
The New York Post apparently did not ask Trump any questions about recent events in Minnesota, where the Trump administration is following all the steps needed to incite residents into a rebellion so that Trump can call out federal troops and suspend elections indefinitely.
The Post interview also contained statements by Trump that:
- The US has seized Venezuelan oil from tankers taken by the US, and it is now being processed by refineries in Houston and elsewhere. (It is not clear where the resulting money will go.)
- Venezuelan interim president Delcy Rodríguez is “terrific”. (Rodriguez was in on Trump’s scheme to topple Maduro.)
- Trump has not decided what to do with the Nobel Peace Prize medal given to him by Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado. (It’s currently still in its frame, propped up against something else in the Oval Office.)
- During their raid on Venezuela, US forces used a secret “discombobulator” pulsed energy weapon to disable Venezuelan soldiers and equipment.
- The US could launch attacks on Mexico, Central America, and South America, ostensibly to interdict drug cartels. (Trump’s justification for kidnapping Maduro from Venezuela was to interdict drug cartels.)
- The US will gain sovereignty over land in Greenland where American bases are located. (Denmark says that this is false.)
