Let’s just state the obvious.
Between its aggression in Venezuela and its threats to Greenland, the US has become an international pariah state and a danger to the international order created after WW II.
To thieves (sometimes referred to as colonialists), it is OBVIOUS that if you can steal another country’s wealth and get away with it, go ahead.
To pirates, it is OBVIOUS that if you can plunder a ship’s valuable cargo (oil) and get away with it, you should do it.
What could be more obvious?
As Arnold Schwarzenegger said in the 1994 movie True Lies when asked by his wife if he had killed people, “Yeah, but they were all bad.”
Not surprisingly, leaders of other countries are especially “bad” if they have something of value that the administration wants. There are bad leaders all over the globe, but Venezuela’s bad leader controlled vast oil wealth.
That makes his evil very special and justice requires the US military to intervene as a force for good.
So, let’s steal the oil and claim we are moral agents administering justice (the world’s policemen) by taking it.
Did we learn anything from Republican lies about WMDs in Iraq which contained the world’s third most proven reserves of oil? The invasion and administration of Iraq cost US taxpayers an estimated $1.5 trillion? Cheap oil sure turned out to be expensive.
Our next war or invasion after Iraq is with a country with the world’s greatest proven reserves of petroleum.
Coincidence? Hardly.
Thieves will always find a justification to steal something. And partisans seem willing to accept the most transparently false explanations and dubious moral claims as justifications.
After all, Germany came up with moral reasons justifying the invasion of Poland and the rest of Europe during WW II by claiming to have a moral right to appropriate more “living space” or lebensraum.
But being thieves, as a sideline, German soldiers also stole every piece of valuable European art they could get their hands on and shipped them back to Germany.
If being “bad” is a situation worthy of punishment, the current thieving administration and its enablers deserve to have everything taken from them in the upcoming US elections.
