"Ukrainians do not give up". Vladimir Putin did not really know or understand his so-called “khokhol” country-bumpkin “cousins” in Ukraine before he launched his ill-fated full-scale invasion on February 24th, 2022. If he had, he would have perhaps not made the mistake of invading their Ukraina(“our land”). But who can account for hubris?. He has compounded that error by trying to not only bomb innocent civilians into smithereens but also freeze to death those who escape his bombs; thereby fulfilling the warning issued to him by fearless Russian general, Colonel General Leonid Ivashov on the eve of war:
The use of military force against Ukraine, firstly, will call into question the existence of Russia itself as a state; secondly, it will forever make Russians and Ukrainians mortal enemies.(emphasis mine) Thirdly, there will be thousands (tens of thousands) of dead young, healthy children on one side and on the other, which will certainly affect the future demographic situation in our dying countries. On the battlefield, if this happens, Russian troops will face not only Ukrainian military personnel, among whom there will be many Russian guys, but also military personnel and equipment from many NATO countries, and the member states of the alliance will be obliged to declare war on Russia..

My personal editorial comment: It is incredible how prescient this letter was. Part of the last sentence is still in abeyance, but Ivashov’s letter will go down in history as a great piece of war time literature.
I am praying and ever hopeful that the worst of Ukraine’s harsh Winter of 2025-26 is nearing its end. But even as their homes and apartments remain frozen because of Russian aerial bombardment of their national energy infrastructure, Ukrainians remain ever adamant against their government making concessions to Putin:
"Ukrainians do not give up." Putin lost another battle
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin was counting on the freezing winter of 2025-2026 to be his main ally in a new battle against Ukraine and force it to capitulate or at least make painful concessions during peace talks. However, the Ukrainians survived the most severe frosts against the backdrop of increased Russian terror, but did not submit to the Kremlin. This means that Putin suffered another defeat.
Victoria Leshchenko also added that she is trying to maintain fighting spirit among the residents of the capital:
I will survive too. Ukrainians don't give up.
Against this background, journalists asked the Kyiv resident what concessions she was willing to make.
"No concessions," the Ukrainian woman replied categorically.(emphasis mine)

And in Moscow, Putin’s money men are now openly telling him the Russian economy has only a few more months to survive:
Putin's entourage predicts collapse of the Russian economy — when will it happen?
The Washington Post has learned from insiders that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin's team is gripped by a wave of panic over the state of the Russian economy, which is steadily deteriorating. Financiers close to the Kremlin are warning Putin that the Russian economy could collapse by the summer of 2026.
According to the calculations of Kremlin financiers, the next few months could be fatal for the Russian economy. That is why they are increasingly turning to Putin with specific warnings on this matter.
The main message is that an economic crisis could hit the aggressor country before the summer of 2026.

The desperation in Moscow is being manifested on the front lines of the war as well as Russia intensifies the number of assaults and sends more and more cold, hungry and ill-equipped soldiers into the maw of the “meat grinder” the Ukrainians have set up at places like Huliaipole, Kupiansk, Lyman, Pokrovsk, Siversk, Vovchansk, etc., etc., … all along the 1,600km battle trace. The Ukrainian warriors, just like the civilians in the major cities are taking on everything Russia is throwing at them … bending but not breaking. Reports that today, February 8th, 2026 Russia launched 294 combat assaults in which they squandered away the lives of 1,040 of their soldiers … for not much gain. Russia’s wanton disregard for human lives has become a feature of this baleful war:
"294 combat clashes recorded." The situation on the front has sharply escalated
