The U.S. Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly approved legislation aimed at boosting affordable housing construction nationwide, giving lawmakers the opportunity to campaign for re-election this year by highlighting efforts to ease the burden of high living costs
The bill would provide a range of government incentives for the housing and financial industries to narrow an estimated 4 million home shortfall that is the result of several factors.
Under the bill, environmental reviews for construction projects would be waived or sped up and more financing would be freed through federal block grants to states.
Yeeeaaahhh...this tells me their numbers are even worse than we know.
Of course the Senators in the Midwest were all "Oooh we have to help our people because housing is getting so expensive..."
(Rolls eyes so hard that I am seeing grey matter and years of GOP torpedoing all this legislation for the last... forever)
GOP CongressVermin -"Hey look, I know we got rid of all your construction crews and made the costs of everything skyrocket because we lack anything resembling a spine or conviction and we're all Epstein files adjacent but...look...we did ONE thing that can help you get a house sooo...uh, friendsies?"
However they're still screwing over the environment so they're not completely giving up on sheer idiocy.
