The Clock of Liberties: The Critical Path to Save the Midterms
If you're reading this, we are probably already in the storm. But it's not too late. Here, step by step, is the critical path. I wrote it as if I were speaking to you – because I am.
Step 1 – Lock down local clerks before June
Example: In Cochise County, Arizona, in 2022, Republican supervisor Peggy Judd refused to certify primary results, citing unfounded "doubts." She only relented under judicial pressure.
What to do: Right now, map the 10 most vulnerable counties (Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada). Recruit a Democrat or moderate independent for each clerk position. By the end of May, each must have filed their candidacy. Without this, they can block certification in November.
Step 2 – Dismantle the disinformation machine
Example: In 2020, a rumor spread in Ottawa County, Ohio, that "Sharpie markers were canceling ballots." Result: voters threw away their votes.
What to do: Create "neighborhood brigades" of 5 people per ZIP code. Their mission: spot on Facebook, Telegram, or Nextdoor any local allegation of fraud. Response template: a personalized text message with a screenshot of the official rule from the Secretary of State. Within 48 hours max.
Step 3 – Double protection at polling places
Example: During the 2022 midterms in Maricopa County, Arizona, Trump-aligned observers filmed voters' faces and followed them to their cars.
What to do: One mobile legal team = 1 civil rights attorney + 3 accredited observers. They patrol in 4-hour shifts. If a voter is intimidated, the attorney files an immediate injunction request (pre-drafted template). No debate on site. Example of concrete intimidation: a man in tactical gear with an open-carry rifle 50 yards from a polling place (legal in some states but a federal violation if there is threatening eye contact). The attorney films, sends the video to the local prosecutor, AND files a federal complaint within the hour.
Step 4 – Sabotage the voter purge
Example: In 2021, Texas purged 1.1 million voters under the pretext of unconfirmed addresses. 80% were in majority-Latino areas.
What to do: Each local Democratic Party chapter must obtain the purge list as soon as it's published. Then: an "express reanimation" campaign. Concrete example: volunteers at a mall in Hialeah, Florida, with tablets connected to the state's re-registration portal. For each purged person, re-register them on the spot in 4 minutes. Keep a public counter: "2,500 re-registered today."
Step 5 – Flood the legal challenges
Example: In 2020, Trump's lawyers filed 62 lawsuits. Most failed, but some delayed certification in key counties like Wayne, Michigan, by several days.
What to do: Before the election, prepare 30 template challenges per swing state – one for each known argument (mail ballot missing inner envelope, mismatched signature, polling place closed early…). As soon as polls close, a night team analyzes Trump's complaints. Within an hour, they file the counter-challenge. Concrete example: if Trump attacks 5,000 mail ballots in Philadelphia for lack of a date, you file a brief citing Pennsylvania Democratic Party v. Boockvar (2020) – the date is not required under federal law.
Step 6 – Occupy the streets and the courtrooms
Example: In 2020, Trump protesters stormed the counting center in Detroit. No one organized a legal counter-demonstration.
What to do: Two parallel chains of command:
· Judicial track: 5 attorneys ready to plead in emergency before the federal district judge. Briefs already filed under seal.
· Citizen track: silent assemblies in front of state capitols – no aggressive signs, but thousands of people in white, arm in arm, reading the Constitution aloud in turn. Concrete example: "We, the people gathered before the Georgia State Capitol, demand that every vote be counted according to Article II, Section 1." Scripted, peaceful, unstoppable.
The Golden Rule (reminded with an example):
Never break the line. In 2020, some activists blocked bridges. That gave Trump ammunition to talk about "left-wing chaos." Not this time. Even if a Trump provocateur spits in your face, respond with a smile and a triplicate complaint form. They want a street brawl. We give them a machine to win in court.
On November 5th, the clock will stop. But we wind it now. Follow this path, or we will lose not an election, but the very possibility of holding another one.
