Correction: *The Law was introduced to SOAD’s Parliament, not the African Union Parliament.
As the Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas enters into a host of Treaties and memberships with the different global Aboriginal nations, it has been brought to FANA's attention that the State of African Diaspora (SOAD) has used the Federation's Law of Continuity (see link below) as the impetus and the basis to write their own Law of Continuity.
I have attached the link to the SOAD press release we received. At this point, *SOAD's doctrine was introduced to the African Union's Parliament, where it has been tabled.
Let me explain what 'tabled' means in this article as simply as possible.
When someone wants a bill made into Law in the United States, either as State or Federal Law, it is given to a State or Federal elected legislator, who then delivers it to the most appropriate committee for review and, hopefully, support. If the committee supports the Bill, it will send it to the Federal or State legislators for passage into Law or defeat. It is not unusual for a Bill to wind up on a committee member's desk, collecting dust, as no action is taken. Thereby tabling the proposed Bill.
In Africa, following the European procedure of passing bills, tabled means the Parliament is addressing it. The proposed Law is not sent to a committee but to a Parliamentary member who gets the proposed Bill onto the agenda.
While in Parliament, the elected representatives consider the pros and cons of the Law of Continuity and will then vote on whether to make it Law.
Currently, both SOAD and FANA are awaiting the decision of the African Union's Parliament.
I will keep you posted should there be any developments.
