This is bad! Why are the headlines of all the papers not announcing that the Bush administration refused to allow any other than a group of Republican politicians to visit Iraq and report back? This is an example of naked political maneouvering.
While Spineless Tom tells us that we ought to be good little boys and girls and "assume that what the [Republicans]" say is true, the New York Times tells us this morning:
4 American Soldiers Are Killed in 2 New Attacks in Iraq

Three American soldiers were killed in the Shiite holy city of Karbala late Thursday night and another soldier was killed in Baghdad this morning, military officials said today.
Two Iraqi security officers were also killed and five were wounded in the Karbala attack outside the headquarters of a Shiite cleric.
Spineless Tom needs to tell us why it is he has any credibility himself when he tells us to listen to Republican politicians sent by Bush to Iraq, in the middle of what the Bush administration itself has announced is its own PR drive to change the image of the Iraq occupation in the view of the public, when the New York Times reporters are telling us a different story.
Does'nt Spineless Tom read the news? And when are we going to get leadership capable of simply telling the world the truth, that is, that these Republican operatives were sent by Bush to Iraq not to see anything at all - they may have spent the whole time sitting in a hotel guarded by a couple hundred soldiers - but
for the single purpose of stepping of an Air Force plane in America after returning, and telling reporters on the tarmac that everything is Sunshine and Daisies in Iraq.
Spineless Tom is almost as bad as the Republican operatives stepping off the plane themselves, if he is going to facilitate their PR campaign's success.
