Double the turnout - and a Kucinich win in a blue-collar Democratic part of town.
The turnout of 28 was much greater than 2002 - 4 (we endorsed Ms. Mee Moua, the first Hmong legislator in the state, and all 4 of us in the caucus voted for Nader - go figure)
I was torn between standing for Kucinich and going to the Green caucus to meet my local Greenies (for the first time), since I heartily believe in building the local party. Seeing Kucinich at the NLG's Social Justice dinner pushed me over the edge. Ironically, with a Green campaign and a series of Nader votes under my belt, I was the person most experienced in DFL caucus procedure and ended up chairing.
Over half of the people attending were at their first caucus. We selected 20 delegates to go to the next level, and got about 15 people to fill the slots. Still not getting there.
We had far too few presidential ballots. And they are NOT binding, despite what the Star Tribune (Mpls paper) says.
The results:
Kucinich 11
Kerry 8
Edwards 3
Dean 4
