Haven't we learned anything from the murder of Jean Charles de Menezes?
Haven't we learned not to trust the media, the govt, the mid-level officialdom, that they will lie and lie and lie to create a narrative that will cover their butts - and that the narrative is always that of the Unworthy Victim.
Why do we so easily believe, without being there, that the majority of the looters were taking wasteful, extravagant, not survival-needful things?
Because FOX tells us so, with selected photos and captions? Or for gods sake, MSNBC or CNN? Those corporate toady bootlickers of the Masters of War and Oil Barons?
Why do we so easily believe, so willingly, that the fools are shooting at the helicopters that are trying to rescue them? Is there a shred of proof? I know from reading original Army WWII records how
often our soldiers believed they were being shot at, and fired and killed each other, in the Pacific jungle, with "friendly" fire.
They want us to believe as Jonah Goldberg(that whining sociopath) and Instypundit and all the Freepers and Redstate crew, all of them dreaming as they have for decades of being NeoSpartans slaughtering our own Helots, vicariously - that these people deserve to die.
And yes, the conservatives are racist to the bone. Individuals may be in denial - I was when I was one.
But the Bell Curve - the slobbering love of it - helped open my eyes, as did learning the origin of the Pink Triangle emblem - that I stood with Brownshirts.
I stepped out of line long since, and have slowly worked at debunking the lies. My blog and website are full of this work - follow the links, i'm too tired and rushed to hunt them now, on 2 hrs of sleep and stolen posting time.
DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES. They want you to fear, despise, and hate "Them" - because they are poor, because they are the wrong color, because they DARE to challenge the godly capitalistic faith that Property is what makes a human worthy, and the have-nots deserve to be ground down, and human life has no value except as far as one has wealth.
And whne we learn the truth - when we finally get to learn that only a few criminals - in such a huge, direly poor city, of course there are - were truly vile< and much of the stupidity , how do you think ANY of us would react under such circumstances? Well, how DID we in the past?
The myth of the Blitz - all those lilywhite English behaving with perfect goodness and charity - a lie.
Here is a snippet of the truth.
There was predation and crime and looting and cheating of all kinds during the blitz. Teens stole army guns and did holdups.
During hte evacuations of Western Europe ahead of the Blitzkrieg, there were rapes and robberies, our pure white kin preyed on each other.
In the siege of Fredericksburg and the many sieges of Rome and Jerusalem, our ancestors ate each other.
They would have you disdain those they will abandon to die. Propaganda has always worked this way. When it was time to dump the Poles - the noble, valiant Poles for whose sake we had collected so much aid and promised so much - at Yalta to dance with Stalin, then you saw the return of Polack jokes in this country. They were absent from the 40s media, but after we sold them out we had to mock them. Had to, you see. Or else we would have had to feel guilt, and shame.
When it is too late, will they once again tell us that oh, sorry, he was an innocent man who was not running from the police nor acting suspiciously nor wearing a heavy coat, we fucked up and then we lied and slandered him? It was too late for de Menezes.
