I'm convinced that farm subsidies blow. Most of the money goes to corporate factory farms, not fmaily farmers who would need the money. On top of that, the subsidies screw up world markets and make it impossible for poor farmers in Africa and other poor places to support themselves with their agriculture.
Here is my opinion on what can be done to help family farmers without extremely screwing up world markets or offering corporate welfare to factory farms: Give all farmers free health care. That way they have a subsidy to their way of life and money isn't being flooded on factory farms. Since less money would be subsidizing the large farms, there'd be much less distortion to the world markets.
Please help me figure out whether I'm right or wrong or just a douche bag.
