I see and feel a change happening in the media... a slow change but still a positive change.
I live in the Tacoma / Seattle area of WA state. I listen to a lot of talk radio (the good kind) and the "news" that comes on at the top and bottom of the hours.
I have been noticing that the CBS radio news that plays on KIRO 710am has been doing REAL news.... no really, I am not kidding... Real news! They have been putting the tabloid story (if they do one) deep into the news segment.
So I decided to keep an ear on the three main AM stations that I listen to: AM 1090 KPTK - Air America, Kiro 710 am - mix with Dave Ross being A1, and KOMO 1000 - this is all news and the Seattle Mariners.
KOMO 1000 uses ABC news and AM 1090 KPTK uses ... I think.. a mix of AP and CNN. Both of these stattions aired "no verdict yet in MJ case" as the TOP story throughout that crap. KIRO/CBS aired REAL news!

Today I noticed the two tabloid news stations had the EARTHQUAKE that happened today in the LA area of Cali while the KIRO / CBS station lead with the Marines being killed, Kucinich and the repubs doing the right and good thing and the Conyers forum.. not always in that order. They put the earthquake and the Aruba story farther down if at all.
I believe we all need to monitor our local radio news (this is a start) and send emails, letters and make phone calls giving the REAL news stations BIG KUDOS and spanking the tabloid staions for NOT doing the REAL news! Any of you in the Tacoma / Seattle area PLEASE do this now or tomorrow but Please do it. The rest of you... Please do it in your local area.
I called both 1090am - AAR and Kiro 710 am today while I was on the road. I told the person in the Kiro 710 am newsroom that I was calling to ask them to give CBS radio and themselves a BIG thank you and KUDOS from me for doing the REAL news! He was shocked, surprised and glad for my call and comments. I told him that I am a Kiro 710 listener but not as much anymore because of AAR and he was like "OH" and seems to then take my comments with even more interest. I also told him that 1090 am has not been doing a good job on the national news at the top and bottom of the hour but they have... he liked hearing this.
Sorry to ramble on but I do hope that MANY of us can FLOOD them with our input.
