NH's highest ranking Democrats are the six State Senators (out of 24 Senators). Four of the six
Dems have endorsed John Kerry for Pres., Lou D'Allesandro, 3-term Senator has joined Sen. Joe Foster in endorsing Edwards.
In addition Former Governor Shaheen is backing Kerry.
Thus the highest ranking Dean supporters would be some of the 50 or so Democratic State Reps and the odd Mayor.
Dean leads every Primary poll and has for several months. There seems to be a disconnect here which may explain why Democrats do so badly in statewide and local races. The party's leaders seem to be on a different wavelength than the rank and file.
I can tell you from personal observation that the enthusiasm for Dean here is very real and cuts across lines of age, sex and even political persuasion. I know of a long-time Libertarian (registered Indie) who will vote for Dean.
