I was thinking how nice it would be to see stories about Gannon on the front page of
Google News. I first found out about Google News from friends who said they routinely go there for news first.
The bad news is that Gannon / Guckert is currently nowhere to be found on the Google News front page.
The GOOD news is that if you "Search News" for "Gannon Guckert" or other creative combinations, you will find a few interesting articles to click on.
a little more, below...
So, how will clicking on the articles in the search results effect a "Google News Bomb" of Gannon?
Hell if I know.
But what I surmise, is if Google News gets a few thousand searches run on "Gannon Guckert", maybe their little clickstream bits will line up more favorably towards putting it on the front page.
Or, by all the little news outfits (so far) suddenly having hits on their Gannon / Guckert stories, might they be more inclined to write follow-ups?
Actually, I think the front-paging on Google News only happens based on the number of media outlets reporting the story. So, this strategy will only work once we actually get news outlets to do their jobs. Still, it's fun to read the various articles.
Seek and ye shall find, articles (or op-eds) from the
- Houston Chronicle
- Palm Beach Post
- Fort Worth Star Telegram
- Lufkin Daily News
And of course The Nation and Editor & Publisher. And a few new media sites of course.
Then there is this snarky piece in Flak Magzine (which I'd never heard of before). You gotta read this one, if nothing else.
I don't know. Just an idea. Apologies if it's a lame time-wasting suggestion, but I thought I'd throw it out there for judgmment by the harsh light of dailyKos. Does anyone have any better ideas?
