Question for Kerry Supporters

How do Kerry supporters rationalize that situation with Kerry pretending to throw back his medals in the Vietnam protest, and instead throwing somebody else's medals? I wonder how an avid Kerry supporter would explain that away in his or her own mind.

This incident raises real questions about Kerry's leadership ability, integrity, and dedication to his own purported principles. I've been reading comments from Kerry supporters on DKos for months and am yet to hear a Kerry supporter address this issue.

I ask this out of sincere curiousity.
