This is an update to my
posting on 30 January 2006.
I just had the opportunity to pop over to the FEC website to check to see what my lovely opponent has been raising and spending so far for his "re-election" campaign in which he thinks "it's pretty unlikely the voters would switch now, and I don't think the opposition thinks it's likely they would do that."
Anyway, I just thought I would highlight one particular honorable mention - EXXON MOBIL- especially given their record setting profit margin that was just released (see below). $5000 of the total for Chair of the Energy and Corruption, I mean, Commerce Committee's money came from no other than his big profit, oil and gas buddies - big suprise! So back to my original assumption below....my only question now is - did they have a window or aisle seat?
"The point is, ladies and gentlemen, that greed, for lack of a better word, is good. Greed is right. Greed works."
This line comes from the 1987 movie Wall Street, but it seems our oil execs have watched it one too many times this past year....
While hard working Americans continue to pay out their ass in order to get to their jobs every day, it seems these crooks have set themselves up nicely this year.
It's bad enough that we have corruption running amuck in Washington, D.C. (a trend that I hope to correct in November, 2006), but now these crooks have taken greed to a whole new level.
What is wrong with this picture?
I'll tell you what is wrong...Joe Barton - plain and simple. The Representative (and I use that term very loosely) from right here in Texas that authored your Energy Bill and sits high on his throne in the Energy and Commerce Committee producing legislation that favors big oil and energy companies and allows polluters to be shielded from prosecution.
On January 20th, Joe Barton took some time out of his busy schedule messing up America to take a train ride across Texas to play Texas Hold 'Em to raise some money for his "re-election" campaign.
I would be willing to bet (haha, I made a funny) some of these same crooks that posted record profits were on board Barton's train.
Yesterday, on the way back from a campaign event I noticed a Joe Barton billboard on HWY 360 south as you come into Arlington, TX. This year, he has a picture on his billboard...I wonder why?
I will tell you why. It is because the citizens and hard-working Texans right here in District Six haven't seen this Joe-ker in years because he has been catering to the lobbyists to fund his re-election. He has to put his face up there because no one remembers what he looks like...that's why!
Bottom line folks, you have a choice this November, vote for a guy who has these crooks in his back pocket or FOLLOW ME TO DC and together we start taking back our country and our hard-earned cash.
I encourage you to write to Exxon Mobil and tell them that gouging at the pump hurts us all...
