The
Isthmus reports that Wisconsin republican congressional candidate Dave Magnum, trying to demonstrate his light rail transportation policy analysis prowess, explained the reason why he would not work to support light rail in Madison is because:
"The issue here is the climate," he told a small group gathered at the Dane County Public Affairs Council Wednesday morning. He noted that in places like Seattle, where the weather is warmer, people can just "hop on and off the train, and walk. Here, that's just not practical. If you don't have a car waiting for you, and it's zero degrees out -- that's why we won't have people [who] utilize light rail."
So, there it is folks. More of that critical republican thinking that shows light rail only works in warm weather locations.
Wow, who knew the answer was so simple ... and ... a ... so wrong.
I think republicans like Dave Magnum really need to get out more. They should get in touch with the real world. This might just keep us from making more of the stupid idiotic policy decisions that have been flowing out of the current republican congress and white house for the last 5 years.
So, travel a little Dave. Learn a few things about the real world. Expand your knowledge universe.
Let me suggest that you start with a road trip to someplace with cold winter weather similar to Madison that has light rail like, say, Chicago and see a few new things ... like this!
