Human rights, not state's rights

This morning, i figured out the glaring flaw in Kerry's support for a MA constitutional amendment "defining" marriage, while also claiming to be a friend of the gay community. Kerry frames this as a "state's rights" issue, one of his more useful plagiarisms from Dean.

Gay marriage is NOT a state's rights issue. It is a human rights issue. All human beings should have the right to marry whom they choose regardless of gender.

Framed that way, Kerry's position is clearly a cop-out.
