Democrats backing Bush

I was just watching Ed Koch, the former democratic mayor of New York say that Al Gore and Howard Dean are wrong about criticizing the Patriot Act because the increased law enforcement powers are necessary to make us safe in a time of war. Of course I dont buy the argument, but it freaks me out tremendously that there are Democrats like Ed Koch who are backing Bush on these issues and are willing to vote for him for that very reason. If some prominent Democrats are on the side of Bush, then how can we beat him?
