My father always voted Republican until the party became an arm of the religious right and big spenders; my mother is a true independent. They began to pay attention to Howard Dean initially because I was participating in the campaign. I really didn't think they'd vote for him, though -- I figured they'd back a more "traditional" candidate.
I was wrong -- and this is what arrived in my e-mail box today (written by my mom who, by the way, is always worried I spend too much time online with the blogs):
I thought today about asking you to put on one of the blogs the perspective
of 2 senior citizens who think Dean has been "a prophet" at a critical time in
our country's history. Prophets are almost always "without honor" -they are
often viewed as angry - but they are the ones who, Biblically speaking, pointed
the way for others to follow.
I'm proud to be a part of something that my parents see that way.
