As
nevadadem notes - er - Notes, the Note whispers about a new NBC/WSJ poll out today at 6:30 pm confirming a close/tied race. I love when the press catches up to us.
And it's not just the Note... it's First Read (NBC), Kurtz, and other political sites that have figured out Kerry's Iraq stance is hitting hard, and that his message has tightened, he's become more disciplined, and people are not happy with this President's foreign policy. Sunday talk shows were devastating for Bush with repubs expressing disdain for the Bush Iraq policy. Carnage in Iraq is becoming too great to ignore, and is the real driver of Kerry's message.
Note also another let-em-eat-crow site that needs to pay attention. Yesterday, Gallup posted this:
Reasons Why People Are Voting for Bush or Kerry
Bush voters satisfied with his performance; Kerry voters want Bush's ouster
by Joseph Carroll and Frank Newport
Gallup's latest poll shows President George W. Bush's lead over Democratic candidate John Kerry growing wider than at any other time over the past several months. But what's behind the support of each of these two candidates? A recent Gallup Poll shows that Bush supporters generally are voting on the basis of the president's performance and his leadership qualities. And while Kerry supporters generally say they want to get Bush out of the White House, a substantial number also say they are voting for Kerry because of their opposition to the war in Iraq and to the current administration's policies on terrorism or national security.
Tomorrow should be an interesting day for CNN, purveyor of all that is Gallup (read that as all that is
wrong). Gallup's exposure tomorrow should be complete. In the meantime, even without new polls press coverage is shifting, with Kerry's
Iraq speech on Monday blasting through cable chatter to wide coverage. Bush is on the defensive, the questions from both parties about his plans are beginning to be asked, and we've still got time.
We have not won. There will be more ups and downs. But we've hit bottom and turned this thing around. The focus is now on Bush's record, not Kerry's. Kerry is on message, disciplined and...damn, he's a good closer. Ever hear that one, before?
