We (Democrats, progressives, moderates, and other reformers) should split the faith-based initiative issue wide open. ...
This is a perfect opportunity for us to take charge of the issue by coming up with a constitutionally acceptable plan for supporting civil society's efforts (by both secular and religious groups) to help prison populations, the poor, etc. Bush is neglecting these issues and has some serious problems with the rest of his current agenda (Iraq & Social Security). Why not come up with good public policy that addresses everyone's needs.
