The time has come for our party to make a choice. A week from today, Americans in ten states from across the nation will cast their vote as to who should be the nominee, and when they do their voice will be heard around the world.
I am one of them, and I will be voting for Senator John Edwards.
Like many before me, I want to reassure you that I am not trying to persuade anyone to stray from making their own decision: I came to this decision on my own, and I encourage you to do the same.
For the last six months I have been a passionate and dedicated supporter of Governor Howard Dean. As Generation Dean Blog Manager, I came in contact with thousands of individuals from across our nation brought together by a common purpose: To beat George. W. Bush on November 22nd, whatever it takes. I still believe in that dream, and I believe John Edwards is the right man to get the job done.
I supported Governor Dean because I felt, like so many other young Americans, that he was the best candidate to take on George W. Bush in November. Now that Governor Dean has decided to discontinue his campaign for the Presidency, the Democratic Party must continue its search for a candidate who can stand up against George W. Bush in the General Election this fall.
I believe that both Edwards and Kerry are capable of beating George Bush in the November Election - Of that I have no doubt. But John Edwards believes in more than winning. He believes - as Dean believes - that Democrats need to not only beat George Bush; we need to present a clear alternative and a positive vision for the future of our nation.
John Edwards understands the difficulties faced by young Americans in our struggling economy. John Edwards is the embodiment of the American Dream, and he understands what it is like for young Americans trying to make a life for themselves in an America with unprecedented deficits and the highest unemployment in decades. We need a strong Democrat who is not afraid to stand up to George W. Bush on the issues when and where it counts; a Candidate whose platform is built on hope; a President who will work hard every day of his administration for young Americans.
To me the choice is clear, and that is why I completely endorse Senator John Edwards for President of the United States.
