Privacy: A Winning Issue for Democrats

The furor over the Choicepoint scandal is an opportunity for the Democratic Party to make serious political headway with Red State voters.  I believe that personal privacy, as an issue, is a winner for progressives.  Privacy issues have the potential to drive a deep wedge into the heart of the Republican base, and expose the lie that the Right is "anti-government."

Privacy also dovetails well with pro-choice and gay rights issues.

Clarence Thomas has declared that there is NO right to privacy in the Constitution whatsoever. This could help Dems counter GWB's more odious Supreme Court picks.
