beaten down, accepts original proposal
then claims it as his own, as an accomplishment of his presidency
and this underscores that politics just isn't that simple
and bush isn't all he claims to be
bush/cheney would have us believe everything is black and white, an up or down vote
but that's not the case
politics and lawmaking don't work that way
it could, but the reality is that at any particular time, for any particular bill, there may be any number of reasons for voting it down, since bills are so loaded with pork and welfare for special interests, with 'riders', that you never vote for one thing, for black or white
and it's too bad it has to be that way

not to defend a record he's proud of, but to defend America

john kerry is going to simplify how we do business without special interest interference
john kerry has experienced first-hand the magnitude of this problem
how special interests make it difficult for our men and women in Congress to do their jobs
and how it is of the utmost importance they do their jobs without distractions
george w bush can't and won't do something about this - it's how he does business
dick cheney won't do anything about it - he thrives in the current environment, in secret meetings with special interests to form government policy
maybe it depends on who you represent

maybe bush isn't all he claims to be
what's so compassionate about his conservatism?
that claims the richest of the rich, the special interests, to be his base?
it's time for this abuse to end
