The rate of deaths is escalating

if one goes to the Iraqi Casualty List link one will not the following

1. for the month of April 04, we have had 38 US deaths so far, at the rate of 5.71 /day
2. the only month at which the rate was higher was March of 2003, when the actual war had begun  -- in the 11 days of that March during actual combat operations, we were losing an average of over 7 /day

 Totally off topic   -  I just had what I think was an F-16 go overhead.  I live in Arlington VA, but not on the normal flight path from the N for National Airport, which comes down over the Potomac.   Thus any plane overhead gets our attention, and the sound of a military set is very different than that of an airliner.  I was not aware that we had combat air patrols active again   --   anyone else notice it?
