I think the American media (those newspapers, television stations, magazines, radio broadcasts, and corporate run web sites) is completely a corporate tool of a propaganda machine. I don't understand the mechanism by which it works. Maybe it involves journalist who are innocent in their intention. But, the result is always, in this day and age, a whitewash of any issue that tries to seriously attack a) the corpratocracy, or b) the present ruling hunta. Kinsley, or any of you, can call me a tin-foil hat wearing conspiracy theorist if you must. But, this
story in today's NYTs on the latest UK memo leak sums it up.
I mean, the DSM provides probable cause (that lowest of legal threshholds to launch an investigation -- until the adoption of the USA Patriot Act, anyway) for Congress to vigorously look into what the Bush administration knew, when they knew it, and how they spun it -- in terms of their intelligence and propaganda build up to the war. I mean, even before the DSM, probable cause was their. But, you know, a Republican controlled Congress would need a lot more to do their job of checking the rampant chimp boy. (And yes, I am painfully aware that impeachment is not a criminal process per se)
So we get the DSM. First, it is ignored interminably. Then, it is finally picked up. And, today, we get this story. No delay in the NYTs jumping on this memo and characterizing it in the story as a refutation of the DSM. I don't know if the memo is an actual refutation of the DSM's seeming indication that it was our plan all along to invade Iraq, and that everything out of dim feeb's mouth was a compulsive lie. I mean, it seems fairly obvious to me that his administration made up their mind before they ever took office. All I am asking is a fair investigation of the most important matter -- a decision to take us to war -- and kill our troops and innocent Iraqis and make more terrorists. And, it is painfully obvious to me, that the MSM is hellbent on carrying Bush-boys' water. There will never be the necessary ground swell to investigate effectively, let alone see an impeachment process through. Not with the lefter-than-left (yeah, right) NYTs as our MSM banner holder. This country is more rigged than the backroom card game down at Fattys's Pub. (No offense Fatty -- I know there is really no card game back there (wink-wink) and even if there was, it is way more fair than the rules in this God damned country.)
