Folks, I am tired of complaining in this blogsphere echo chamber.
We are all
"Mad as hell, and are not going to take it any longer."
Steve King fictional character "Red" in the Shawshank Redemption said
"either get busy living or get busy dying."It is time we heed this message.
I choose to fight and what follows is modest proposal. I am cross posting this on
Atrios as well. Here is the idea I would like to put forth.
Many of us, myself included complain about the current sorry state of affairs. We post complaints, rants, wishes, dreams, and in the end we continued to be frustrated by the media, politicians, big contributors, and occasionally one another. We wish that the progressives we support would from time to time carry our water, that reporters would report, that a George Soros would spend money to buy major media outlet to change the dialogue so that somehow someway we could get see in print the Truth.
In the blogsphere we have some of the brightest people with keen minds, and the curiosity to investigate, and the desire toboth make and be a vehicle for change.
All we need now is a method and impetus to force the dialogue. Here what we can do.
#1. Have the lawyers who frequent these parts draw up and file papers to become an independent advocacy group for the sole purpose to raise funds and purchase advocacy ads in major daily new papers.
#2. We blogsphere wide fund raise.
#3. Each blog nominates representatives on the council to choose what papers and what topic we promote.
#4. We call attention to the lack of integrity and honesty in journalism and we introduce shame into the equation.
#5. If nothing else we put the antiseptic of light on the schemes and schemers.
What does this accomplish? I believe it accomplishes many purposes. We get the Truth out. We make news by our methods and our actions. We take initiative, we drive the story, we ask like-minded citizens to join our efforts and we insure that those who would do us arm are exposed.
