The Club for Growth has a new ad out attacking Howard Dean for wanting to "raise taxes" on Americans.
It's pretty standard boilerplate and most of the responses over there seem pretty standard as well. But it got me thinking.
The more I thought about the ad and Bush's 2001 tax cut bill the more I began to smirk.
You see Bush actually wants to repeal all of his own tax cuts. Or at least he signed into law a bill that does so.
Time had an article about it here.
It seems to me an identical looking ad showing Bush wanting to do all the same things Dean does would be both visually arresting, funny, and would totally take the wind out of Bush's sails as far as it goes.
Bush has to claim that he signed a bill that automatically ends his tax cuts without meaning to. It calls into question not just his honesty and his integrity, which is where he needs to be hit the hardest, but also his sanity.
