Dean, Dems and religious ignorance

I saw this post on Dean's Forums for America:

Following up on Oscar's point, holding meetups on Wednesday nights severely limits the number of people who can attend in areas where it is church night. For 12 years I have produced customer seminars for retailers in outer suburban/rural areas and we never, never, never, never, never have those seminars on Wednesday nights. Not only will a lot of people not come, many will feel that by holding the meetup on Wednesday night we intentionally excluded them.

I have posted how utterly useless meetup is for people like my immigrant mother who never migrates out of her church. I totally also forgot how the fact that meetup is Wed. during bible study also precludes any chance of many people attending. The fact that this hasn't been made an issue yet shows that i guess the secular base thing is kind of right, and that i hope it can get changed to show sensitivity to people's reliigous lives because we'll need some of them come Nov. and i wish Democratic campaign staffs could hire some religiously-attuned folks who coudl have pointed out something like this. you can bet Bush would have known not to have his meetups on Wed. night...
