I've been watching Dean's fundraising today- he's trying to raise $700,000 by Sunday so he can step up his advertising in Wisconsin, which will be a pivotal state. His website actually says that if he doesn't win Wisconsin he's going to drop out, but I don't know if that will actually be the case. Anyway, he's raised almost $360,000 since 8am this morning, so he's already half way there. Although, I do remain skeptical about how much good a bigger ad campaign will do him. People seem to be locked into voting for the annointed front runner mentality.
It just doesn't make sense. It's fine to vote for the front runner if you have good reasons for chosing him, but if "because he's probably the one who's going to win the nomination" is your only reason you really should have your head examined. And this "because he's most likely to beat Bush" meme is pure nonsense. I don't know where people got that from, considering Kerry's liberal voting record in the senate. The Republicans would easily be able to pick him apart. In my opinion, he seems the one least likely to sway the centrist voters, which is what he'd have to do to beat Bush.
