The fundies are trying a
last-ditch effort to get the Massacuhusetts anti-gay amendment passed later this year. The argument amounts to "the public schools are teaching our children to hate real marriages, and warping their minds! Teachers are making the kids hate their parents. SAVE THE BABIES!!!"
I have no idea if it will work or not -- the ludicrous arguments last year (like claiming that old people would die in pain and without medical care because of the "added strain" on social security and pensions from same-sex marriage) didn't work, but I guess anything is possible. We definitely shouldn't shrug these nutsjobs off.
What worries me is that this article seems so sure that the ConCon will be called withing a few months and that there's a very good chance this amendment will pass. I had no idea the date was so close, or that it was already almost a done deal. Do you think that's true? Don't the MA Dems realize how much they will lose if this gets on the ballot? Do they really want 4 more years of Mitt Romney and a bunch of new Thug legislators elected to office on the coattails of gay-bashing?
