I checked dkos last night and again this morning and did not see any diary on the hilarious and quite biting Paul Hackett segment on the Daily Show last night.
The piece alternated between antiwar Iraq veteran Hackett (who asserted he was forced out of the Ohio Senate race because he is outspoken) and veteran Democratic political consultant Hank Sheinkopf (in a most convincing impersonation of a complete hack). This was great material, topped by a fake Hackett-lite commercial that you can see over at
Wonkette.
Hackett was game and played a great straight man to Ed Helms. Meanwhile, Sheinkopf -a "true believer" who penned this
pearl-did not help his cause (although he contributed much to the cause of unintentional comedy).
Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the Hackett segment ended up casting the entire Democratic Party as weak-kneed and opportunistic.
More on the flip...
This only underscores the importance of drawing clearer lines of demarcation within the Democratic Party to let general public know that the rebellion against the status quo is still growing, while maintaining the difficult but critical balancing act of
always supporting the defeat of Republicans in general elections...
I'd love to hear what others think on this one...
