Hello everyone, I've been lurking on this page for a couple of weeks looking for a good forum to express some thoughts about politics and interests. I appears that most of the people here are to one degree or another on a similar trane of thought as me. The discussions for the most part are interesting and well informed. The comments from today discussion about the priorities of diary enteries concerns me a little. I agree that over the past couple of weeks I started out having some problems navigating this sight and I think it could be more organized. however, i also think that it is just the biproduct of public discourse that things can get a little messy. with that said, i'm not sure where or how the posts i will be putting in this journal will wind up in terms of everyone elses thoughts and discussions.
here is what i want to do with this space: during the summer the folks over at Not Geniuses had "Flood The Zone Fridays" (i particpated regularly). now i think they have all gone back to school and this feature of their sight has been taken off the main menu due to time and scheduling difficulties - too bad. flood the zone was a list of talking points on specific topics of discussion for the purpose of writing our senators or congressmen or local/national newspaper (or all of the above). I thought maybe i could continue with something similar on this sight. it would give an oportunity to rally together topics discussed on the blog and elsewhere on the web and focus our thoughts to the wider general population.
I don't know if we will have any significant effect on the body politic but who knows maybe we can make a difference. i think bloging has the potential to change the nature of public discourse (or maybe i'm just a dreamer).
please give me your thoughts on this.
