Democrats and working class

What happened to the Democratic party? this is sad. we can blame Southern Strategy and race and all that, but how do we get the white working class back on our side when we've always been their natural allies (even if they disagree with us on the social issues--or perhaps that's why they're flocking to the guns, god, gays GOP).
