Political Blackmail?

I'm not new here, but I don't do the diaries thing.  

Usually, anyway.  Today I had a thought, and I thought I'd share it and see what people thought.

Could Bush's latest flip-flop on his spoken word be motivated by political blackmail by the same person who once said that he was going to "F** him like no one has ever f**ed him before" in relation to some poor schmuck who displeased him?

If Karl Rove were to be fired, his life as a political antichrist might be seriously curtailed.  Being the harbringer of the political apocalypse, I can imagine he would everything in his power to stay in his current position.

I'm sure he has some dirt on everyone in the administration that could effectively ruin their careers, what if he were to leverage it to keep his position as best he could?

Any thoughts?
