Forgive me if someone has already posted a link to this documentary, but I just saw it and hope that you take the time to view it as well. It is documentary made by two Iraqi women who traveled throughout the country to document on film the story of women in Iraq.
Here is the link:
Iraq: The Women's Story
The entire documentary runs about 48 minutes and can be viewed online at the link I just posted.
Thoughts on the flip....
What struck me is how much destruction we have brought to Iraq. Hospitals, homes, post offices, any building actually, is a target for our bombs that seek "insurgents" and in the process are destroying the very fabric of Iraqi society.
This film also documents the tightening freedoms for women in Iraq, a direct result of the increasing power of theocracy in Iraq. The lives of women are being impacted by the death of their husbands, the limits being placed on their ability to be full citizens, and these things have come at the hand of our invasion into Iraq.
It is a stark film, but one I couldn't get away from this morning, and it is one I hope you take the time to view.
One has to wonder after viewing this film if we haven't already reached the point of no return in Iraq.
