Mencken was right but he didn't carry it far enough. I did it for him! Mine's in red.
Hi cpa1
Sometimes I get some great stuff and thought I would pass this on to someone with LIKE thoughts! Regards, Ali
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."
~H.L. Mencken (1880 - 1956)
The moron then becomes the lowest floor under which reluctance to expose the foolishness cannot and will not go and the other side finally realizes that the soul of the people and their hearts' desires will be blind unless they receive truthful information. Their existence depends on their ability to teach and inform in an honest and non-threatening way, but inform nonetheless. Then, the moron will return to being the joke he always was and the collective souls will be clever and something to be reckoned with rather than something to use.

This is A REPLY TO me and Mencken from my friend Bob
Sorry, Dennis, but I disagree. The American people did hear the truth. A few days ago, 51% of the American electorate decided to believe Republican rhetoric over their own eyes and ears, and put bigotry before their own best economic interests. Translation: The average American is a bigoted immoral dupe, at best. At worst, he/she is a bigoted immoral moron. Like I said, I've lost all faith in the American people and the American government. We had it all in the `60s, but we threw it all away.
HERE IS MY REPLY
The American people can't handle the truth. Say it like Jack Nicholson
Seriously, stop believing the values argument, it is total B/S. Every election cycle a certain percentage, similar to the last election, say they voted based on values. I don't believe it for a second or, the values they voted for were the protection of the US under any circumstances.
Kerry, never won the national security debate because he never entered it. Did he once challenge what Bush did before 9/11? Did he once force Bush to explain what happened to him on 9/11, where he didn't want to be involved in the attack against us and felt that Cheney should handle it himself?
Didn't Kerry applaud Bush for what he did for this country after 9/11? That comment made Kerry one of the biggest a$$holes in American politics. What did bush do after 9/11? He made one pre-arranged speech with a megaphone, and then turned the world's brotherhood for us into hate against us. Then he LIED to the American people about al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein because most Americans think Saddam Hussein was involved in 9/11. What kind of red states values are those? Maybe gullible but the Democrats never should have allowed their information to be so wrong but if you don't challenge it or call the perpetrators liars, they'll believe it.
Then he started a war because he wanted to be a war president. Oh yea, and he let bin Laden escape for almost 3½ years now. Bush was never challenged so why should Americans think that Bush didn't do a great job. Those were the values they voted for because protection of their families was the No. 1 concern and thanks to Kerry, they didn't know any better. They must be given the truth by those willing to fight for that truth.
