Armadas, Navies, Gay Marriages, & Civil Unions

The Constitution prevents states from forming their own navies.  It says nothing about states forming their own armadas.  However since everybody knows armadas are just navies (or were just navies in the Spanish's case) armadas are also banned.

Civil Unions are intended to give homosexual couples all the rights of marriage sans the word marriage.  Civil Unions are supposed to be the exact same thing, only with a different word.

See where I'm going?

Unless the hypothetical Amendment also creates a constitution level class of civil unions for gays and lesbians (as well as all sort of sexually ambiguous categories like hermaphrodites) then civil unions will also be banned.

After all they are just marriages with a different name.
