It may surprise anyone who has read the spew that comes out of me in response to some Religious Right diaries, but I actually accepted Jesus at a Billy Graham crusade many moons ago. While my spiritual path is quite different now, I still have a lot of respect for the man. He has always been scrupulous with his finances, and has ministered to politicians without pursuing a political agenda himself.
In this article, I sense he is very uncomfortable with the Religious Right, but will not come out and say so because his son is part of it. Note the strong theological difference he has with Pat Robertson.
Then there's his final parallel to
The Sound of Music, which I found downright chilling. I think he is warning his evangelical brethren about where their political crusade may lead.
