In yesterday's
White House Press Briefing, McClellan was asked the following:
Q: How concerned is the White House about the rising number of civilians that are dying in Afghanistan, and what is the White House doing about it?
And responded with this:
MR. McCLELLAN: One, our thoughts and prayers are always with the families of any innocent person who loses their life. The United States military goes out of their way to make sure that that doesn't happen. And there's been a couple of unfortunate incidents, and our thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives.
I think this begs a number of questions...
- Who exactly in this administration is responsible for thinking and praying for the families of innocent people killed?
- How much time is spent per innocent person?
- Do they think about and pray for each individual person, or just the collective group killed during a certain time period?
- Do they even have the names of those killed?
- To what dieties are these prayers directed? Is there an Imam on staff to pray for the Muslim victim's families, or do they have to make do with a Unitarian?
- If they tailor the diety the prayer is directed towards for the religion of the innocent person killed, how is that religion determined? Does someone interview the surviving relatives, or do they use racial profiling?
- Should government funds be going to prayer of this sort? Does this cross the line of separation between church and state?
- Does anyone really believe that anyone high up in this administration is actually in any way troubled by the deaths of innocents, as opposed to being troubled by the news reports of the deaths of innocents?
