Since Texas State Comptroller CKS, leaked that she will be making an announcement today revealing what office she will be running for in 06,( she just made the announcement official) there have been gleefull conversations concerning a three way punching match between current gov. Rick Perry, Comptroller Carol Keeton Strayhorn and U.S. Senator K.B. Hutchison.
Alas, it will not be. But no surprise here.
In my earlier diary this week, I suggested that Strayhorns, announcemnt could be read as inside knowledge on her part that KB would not be making a bid for the governors mansion and would instead be seeking re-election to her seat in the U.S. senate.

I believe dispite her original intentions, KB was likely under awsome pressure from republican party heads to re-run for her Senate seat. As one of if not the most popular politician in the state of Texas, she represents allmost a dead lock for the republicans during a time when the current political atomosphere in the state is becoming more anti-republican. Now the question is, what was KB offered in order to remain in the Senate past the time in which she origianlly intended to stay.
The other question is how this will affect democrats in both the governor and U.S. Senate race in Texas. Unfotunately, it spells a likely loss for Dems in a U.S. Senate seat that they may have had a shot at had KB decided not to run, this also means a much tougher competitor than Perry (assuming Strayhorn beats him in the primaries) for governor.
Strayhorn and her pro-education, pro-choice (correct me if i'm wrong on that, I don't think I am), pro-CHIP platform will prove a tough competitor in this state.
I don't know. I open the table for comments.
