Yesterday, I got into some very interesting and heated discussions with Kossacks. I did not agree with everything they were saying and I was alternatively patronized, argued with and given recommendations on my comments.
When I got home from work, my boyfriend asked me how my day was. I told him work was fine, but I got into some arguments on Daily Kos. He was surprised and said, "I didn't think you people argued."
Hello Cruel World Diary on the flip...
I've done a previous diary about how Daily Kos can help us sharpen our minds and arguments, and that sentiment gets more true every day. Instead of looking for the typical Hannity-style partisan bickering, practicing on each other helps us more in the long run. For example, although I argued to the death yesterday on immigration, my views shifted a little bit and my points became clearer.
One of the reasons I think we'll begin to win now is that it is clearer every day that we are not the Borg. When people say "you liberals" this, and "the liberals" that, they are not speaking about us. They are simply speaking to outdated prejudices and partisan talking points. As anyone on Kos knows, posting or commenting with outdated information is a losing proposition. Posting into an echo chamber is also not the answer and it is to our advantage that the DKos Echo Chamber is a myth.
So rock on.
